by

Ukrainian students who were forced to leave their country after the Russian invasion have already started enrolling in Greek schools, as the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, stressed while speaking on SKAI TV and the show “Simera”.

“Our country has opened its arms to the refugees,” the minister said, adding that reception classes have been prepared, registration procedures have been simplified, and in cooperation with UNICEF, interpretation issues are being resolved.

More than 1,000 minors from war-torn Ukraine have arrived in Greece. Those who come from the Greek community and have some knowledge of Greek will be easily integrated into the school community while reception classes will be created.

The approximately 20 Greek teachers who were repatriated from Ukraine also contribute to this process as soon as it was heard that there could be a blow to the country.

Ms. Kerameos spoke yesterday with her Ukrainian counterpart, who was in a shelter, in order to discuss the situation in the country.

The minister said that a “strike team” should be set up at European level, which will first record the needs of the Ukrainian educational community and, on the other hand, collect offers from EU Member States, civil society, business and international organizations. , “So that no one is deprived of the precious good in education”.
