Following the invitation of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is making an official visit to Greece, from today 29/10 to 31 October.

In particular, Mr. Steinmeier will arrive in Thessaloniki today at noon and at 1:00 p.m. together with the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will visit the area of ​​the under construction Holocaust Museum of Greece, where they will be welcomed by the president of the Central Jewish Council of Greece and David Saltiel of the Israeli Community of Thessaloniki. They will then have a meeting with two women who survived the Holocaust and will be followed by a symbolic tree planting by the Presidents of Greece and Germany.

At 14:15 an event is planned at the Goethe Institute in Thessaloniki in the presence of the German President and immediately after his departure for Athens, where he is expected at 16:30. Immediately after, Mr. Steinmeier will visit the pharmaceutical company Boehringer – Ingelheim and at 20:00 in the evening the studio of the visual artist Teos Triantafyllidis.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30, Mr. Steinmeier will lay a wreath at 09.50 am at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and immediately afterwards he will go to the Presidential Palace, where he will have a private meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and extended meetings will follow. talks between the two delegations.

Immediately after, at 11:15 the President of Germany will go to the Maximos Palace for a private meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and extended talks between the two delegations.

Then, at 12:05 p.m. Mr. Steinmeier will visit the Numismatic Museum and at 1:10 p.m. he will participate in the celebratory event for the “150 years of the German Archaeological Institute of Athens”. At 15:15 the President of Germany will visit the K.Y.T. Malakasas and in the afternoon at 18:45 he will attend an event at the archaeological site of Kerameikos.

In the evening of the same day, at 20:30, the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will host an official dinner in honor of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Budenbender at the Presidential Palace.

On the third day of his official visit to Greece, Thursday October 31, Mr. Steinmeier will travel to Chania and visit the village of Kandanos, where he will lay a wreath and be guided to the Memorial Museum. He will then visit the Terra Creta olive oil plant in Kolymbari and depart in the afternoon at 19:15.
