“The KKE program gives the answers to how we can move forward today as a people and as a country,” he said.
Dimitris Koutsoubas fired hard at the government.
“The KKE, the extra power given to it by the people, only deposits it back to itself, in its struggles, being the only real working-people’s opposition to the government of the ND both inside the Parliament and outside it,” said its spokesperson. KE of the KKE in an interview with dnews.gr.
As he adds, the goal is “to increase the number of those looking for solutions, not in one or another government of a similar nature, not in various “saviours”, but in the active intervention of the people in the developments, those who “look” outside the suffocating frameworks of today’s rotten and corrupt system”.
“The KKE program gives the answers to how we can move forward today as a people and as a country”
“The KKE program gives the answers to how we can move forward today as a people and as a country, with the power really being in the hands of the people, who can finally live based on the possibilities offered by our time, free from exploiters and tyrants,” he notes.
On the occasion of the appearance of PASOK as a “second pole force”, Mr. Koutsoubas emphasizes that “the goal of the system is to restore bipartisanship, as they need at least two strong “poles” in the urban political system, in order to absorb the discontent that causes the anti-popular government policy, to ensure governance for the continuation of the same policy when necessary, even for it to function as a rallying point for the first party”.
At the same time, he points out that “however, it is neither easy nor a given that they will succeed, because PASOK is now “registered” in the consciousness and memory of our people as the force that crushed labor and social rights, that voted for three memoranda and implemented two of them from government positions, co-governing with the ND and Karatzaferis and the far-right LAOS, which voted for 70% of the bills of Mitsotakis’ first four-year term”.
Among other things, the head of the Central Committee of the KKE emphasizes that “the formation of a second strong pole in the urban political system also serves possible solutions of cooperation governments, which were always a temporary solution, when a party could not shoulder the “cost” alone , obviously anti-popular policies”.
According to him, what is definitely recorded in the opinion polls is the “general popular dissatisfaction with the policy of the ND government”.
In this political “opposition, of course, Mr. Samaras and Mr. Karamanlis are not, but the struggles of the workers, the thousands of people participating in the anti-war anti-imperialist mobilizations, are the strike barrage that has been going on for weeks and will culminate with the general labor strike on November 20, with the slogan “Money for salaries, health, education – Greece out of the war and the slaughterhouses”. he adds.
What did he say about developments in SYRIZA?
Asked about the developments in SYRIZA, he answers, among other things, that “what in our opinion should remain as a useful conclusion – for the present and the future – is that when you “sell” the people false hopes for supposedly easy solutions, simply with a governmental change of “chairs”, without conflict with the system, economic interests, imperialist agreements and alliances, it is only a matter of time before these are refuted and a course of political degeneration begins, which at some point translates into organizational degeneration”.
Regarding Alexis Tsipras and the possibility of founding a new party, Mr. Koutsoubas notes two issues that Mr. Tsipras raised in his recent speech, of which “one is the so-called “national goal” of “convergence with the other EU countries”. This is a “photocopy” of what Mr. Mitsotakis also says, since it is a target of the capital in our country, which they want to pay the people. It is, however, remarkable that from the famous “to change the EU”, we have arrived within a few years to “becoming the EU”.
“The second is the “need to balance the political system from the left”, also using the “boom” of the extreme right. But what our people have in mind as the Left has never been a “balancer of the system”, but rather the force that challenges it. Mr. Tsipras, even with the various “repentances” he has expressed lately, it is clear that he wishes to (re)assume such a role. Whether this will happen is not entirely up to him,” he adds.
Regarding the attempt to reconstitute the Center-Left, after referring to the “difficulties of Social Democracy in cultivating illusions”, the head of the KE of the KKE emphasizes that “the main thing is that the people do not have anything substantial to expect from such efforts, only new disappointments and lost years, which will eventually lead to a new conservative onslaught, as is usually the case.”
What did he say about constitutional revision?
As far as the constitutional review is concerned, he points out that based on what has been – until now – announced or implied, “it is clear that we are talking about profoundly reactionary changes, which we will of course oppose”.
With regard to the election of the President of the Republic, he emphasizes that the position and attitude of the KKE is a permanent position of principle and will vote against “regardless of the person, since in reality all the President does is ratify the anti-popular decisions of the respective government and its shameful compromises in others, for interests foreign to the real interests of the Greek people and the peoples of the region”.
Ahead of the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan, Mr. Koutsoubas notes that “in the specific case of the dialogue between the bourgeois classes of Turkey and Greece, through their political representatives, we must say that it is a normal bazaar that has been set up under the umbrella “US-NATO”.
As he states, “in order for NATO to keep Turkey in its own “embrace”, the Turkish ruling class should be given compensations, which de facto affect Greek sovereign rights, but also issues of sovereignty”.
“Therefore, our people have every reason to be worried, to reject the dangerous complacency cultivated by the government, to be ready to fight against any negative developments, setting aside those who will find an opportunity to pour their patriotic poison again, without ever to uncover the real culprits,” he adds.
He also emphasizes the “huge responsibilities of the ND government, and of those who support or tolerate what it does, because it practically involves our country in the two wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and indeed to a very dangerous degree.”
According to him, there are dangers for the people, “who become the target of possible reprisals while the military equipment they have paid for, allegedly for the defense of the country, are used against other peoples”.
“Against them, the mobilizations of the people, of the youth, are completely fair, but also the reactions, the cry of anguish, so to speak, of our soldiers, permanent and military, and the punitive attitude of the government towards them is unacceptable”, concludes, in his interview, the head of the Central Committee of the KKE.
