On Wednesday morning, Pavlos Marinakis gave answers to all current issues, who spoke on the SKAI show “TODAY”.

In particular, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman, speaking about citizens’ taxation and the government’s fight against tax evasion, said:

“Until a few years ago when Kyriakos Mitsotakis was elected Prime Minister, I remember a logic – which unfortunately had been passed on to the citizens, that is, the world had come to terms with this logic – “he says 10, one, two, three to do, I I will be pleased.” This was also one of the phrases that sounded very strongly when, at that time, Mr. Tsipras would change Europe. But, now let’s look at the now and then. What is the difference between then and now?

What are we saying? We look the citizens in the eyes and tell them that the least we will do is to implement our program, that is, what our program says: an average salary of 1500 euros in 2027, a minimum salary of 950 euros, the tax reductions as described in our program. Twelve additional tax cuts will be voted into the budget (announced at the TIF) for 2025 alone.

As far as combating, tackling, limiting – whatever word you want to choose – tax evasion is progressing, it appears that based on estimates for this year’s budget, we have 800 million more revenue than it appears, which is not due to higher taxes – no one tax has not increased. Based on official data, it is due to the implementation of measures such as POS with cash registers, crossings, controls. This is the reason.”

This year, therefore, 12 more taxes will be reduced. Taxes were reduced by 50 in the first 4 years. 10 tax rates were reduced, either temporary reductions were made permanent, or the tax-free allowance for families with children was increased by 1000 euros, in the first year of the second 4-year period. In the second year of the second 4-year period, 12 tax reductions have already been announced.

There are two points worth making. One has to do with what people should expect. Let the world expect – beware – at least what we have been voted for. So, the reason people voted for us is our program. Our program will be implemented and of course we will look, if we manage to successfully fight tax evasion – and it is a condition of the Medium Term, it is not a condition that the Prime Minister or the Minister of Finance says – yes, we will also see more tax relief. And why in the depth of the next years? Why should “the fund not be a minus”. Right now the second highlight.”

What did he say about the upcoming meeting between Mitsotakis and Karamanlis-Samaras?

Mr. Marinakis was also asked about tomorrow’s meeting that the Prime Minister will have with Mr. Karamanlis and Mr. Samaras at the event of the Karamanlis Institute and whether it will be difficult.

As he typically said, No. Believe me, the Prime Minister’s anxiety is understandable, because we are describing a part of the country’s progress, but there is also another part of many difficult years for this country. It’s everything that needs to be done, done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The intra-party debate and especially in a party that does not have an intra-party issue, has the most solid Parliamentary Group it has ever had, especially a second four-year Government. You have a lot of experience, you can make this comparison with other second four year govt.

Obviously there are other opinions. They will continue to exist and continue to be heard. But the citizens, the New Democracy voters, those who do not vote for New Democracy and are waiting to see if we will implement what we are saying, possibly to support us, are not interested in this debate. I say that with great respect. So it is very important to look at the big picture,

The big picture is that we have about three years ahead of us, two and a half to three years, we have a program that is being implemented and it needs to be implemented as quickly as possible. And throughout this process, opinions should be heard, opinions should be evaluated, and in the end, the citizens should win. That’s the goal.”
