The party’s press representative described PASOK – KINAL as an “island of stability” that the citizens need
“The countdown has begun for the Government, as there are centrifugal forces. Until now they were united by the prospect of maintaining power. Now, however, New Democracy also has pressure towards the center in relation to PASOK, because we are now a reliable alternative proposal that can talk to the moderate people of the center and the great attack we have been receiving lately,” he said. on SKAI and on the show “Kalimera” with Fai Mavragani, the press representative of PASOK-Movement of Change, Kostas Tsoukalas.
“The ND also has pressures on its right and this was also shown by the fact that the Prime Minister embraced the Trump agenda and spoke about minorities,” he added.
Mr. Tsoukalas did not fail, however, to comment decisively on the specific choice of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, arguing that “when you say that you do not want the tyranny of the minority, it is good not to represent minorities such as financial elites and to see what the social majority wants which cannot to buy food, afford the electricity bills and pay the rent.”
He then accused the government of “seeking an artificial polarization because it sees the political correlations in the center changing. He does not want an opponent, but he realizes that he has one and is trying to entrench the space of the center which he considered privileged while SYRIZA was in opposition. Now, because they realize that PASOK can now talk to these audiences, there is a pervasive anxiety in New Democracy and therefore they are making a populist attack on us without arguments”.
“For New Democracy, the period of “spring” politics is over. There is a fragmentation of the political system today and PASOK in this landscape is an island of stability, which the citizens need. Citizens need security, trust, perspective for better days, and of course real solutions to the big problems of everyday life”, stressed Mr. Tsoukalas.
Regarding the possibility of PASOK talking to executives who leave SYRIZA, Mr. Tsoukalas repeated that “this is no time for background and haggling. The president said that we are open to political discussion and agreement with every citizen and in neutral time. We want the political conference that will take place in the spring to be a meeting point for all progressive citizens, we are addressing both sides politically from the left to the liberal center but mainly to the affected citizens. The great distinction today is the sufferers who are many and the favored who are few. These victims, regardless of which party they voted for, are united by the fact that they do not have enough money for energy, the supermarket, the rent. And we have to deal with these problems.”
