Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, who will travel to London, will be received by his British counterpart David Lammy at the Foreign Office on Tuesday afternoon.
The meeting of the two ministers, the first since the election of Labor in the British government, will, according to the British side, aim to stimulate bilateral relations in a wide range of sectors.
A British Foreign Office source told SKAI that “as European and NATO allies, the United Kingdom and Greece form an essential partnership, built on our common goals for security and prosperity.”
Regarding the topics that the British Foreign Secretary intends to put on the table, the same source said that “the talks will focus on boosting security, bilateral trade and our shared commitment to address regional and global challenges, including our steadfast support for Ukraine”.
The two foreign ministers are also expected to stand on the Cyprus issue, in view of the renewed effort under the United Nations to convene a five-party informal conference, i.e. with the participation of the guarantor powers as well.
Both Mr. Lami and Gerapetritis recently met with their Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
