Mitsotakis referred to the national plan for Greece’s transition to Artificial Intelligence, delivered to him by the AI Advisory Committee.
The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in London in a special workshop organized by the Tony Blair Institute for her artificial intelligence and its implementation in government policies.
Present at the workshop and the discussion concerning, among other things, the practical applications of artificial intelligence in health, the climate crisis, civil protection, was the Nobel laureate Demis Hassabis (Deepmind) and his team.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the national plan for Greece’s transition to Artificial Intelligence, which was delivered to him a few days ago by the Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence and emphasized that the next step is for the government to proceed with its implementation.
The Prime Minister underlined that Greece is at the forefront of the international debate on artificial intelligence and the philosophical questions surrounding its use, as well as the debate regarding the regulatory framework at the EU level.
The future of AI and how it might evolve was also discussed, while many AI applications already being used by the UK government were looked at.
The common theme was that governments should embrace AI technology responsibly, without missing out on the opportunities that this technology can bring to the economy and society.
The Prime Minister underlined the ethical dimension of the use of artificial intelligence technology.
Finally, extensive reference was made to the use of data as a major tool in the development of artificial intelligence, always within a framework of rules and security.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, the Minister of State Akis Skertsos and the Special Secretary for Long-Term Planning and coordinator of the work of the Advisory Committee for Artificial Intelligence at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yannis Mastrogeorgiou.
