What the Greek Prime Minister said while attending the North-South Summit held in Saariselka, Finland
The Greek Prime Minister is in Finnish Lapland for the work of the North-South Synod Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Prime Ministers of Italy and Sweden, as well as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, are also participating in the Summit.
Mr. Mitsotakis, coming to the Synod, said: “We will have a very interesting discussion about the challenges facing us in terms of the security of the European Union.
We know we need to allocate more resources to our collective defense. The question is how we will achieve these goals in an era of increased geopolitical turmoil.
So it will be an opportunity for us to share with our Scandinavian friends the challenges we face in the Mediterranean, but also to learn from you about the challenges you face in this part of Europe.”
“What is your message to Russia and Vladimir Putin?”, the Greek prime minister was asked by journalists.
“The message is very clear: we will continue to stand by Ukraine and support Ukraine unequivocally. It is up to Ukraine to determine the time to start any talks with Russia but it should do so from a position of strength and not from a position of weakness,” answered Mr. Mitsotakis.
