Mantzos: The measures of the Government come with a long delay and are not enough

by

For great delay of meters from government in order to deal with the adverse effects of the energy crisis, says the spokesman of PASOK – Movement for Change, Dimitris Mantzoscommenting on his message Prime Minister. Mr. Mantzos points out that PASOK – Movement for Changecalls on the government to “finally – adopt – our proposals for immediate relief and targeted support for the most vulnerable.”

His comment in detail Dimitris Mantzou as follows:

The Government’s measures come with a long delay and yet they are not enough to deal with the adverse consequences of the energy crisis.

Ultimately, it turns out that the budget margins have been and are, as we have been arguing for many weeks, despite the ironies of government officials. The overpayment from VAT in state coffers has created space for strengthening our weak fellow citizens.

We call on the Government to adopt -at lastly- our proposals for immediate relief and targeted support of the most vulnerable citizens with:

A ceiling on the adjustment clause, taxation of the super-profits of the electricity producers, reduction of the VAT on basic consumer goods, reduction of the VAT on fuel, increase of the minimum wage and a new EKAS for the low-income pensioners.

A welfare state means comprehensive rather than fragmented policies of support for those in real need.
