PASOK President Dimitrios Kyriazidis’ spikes by PASOK President Dimitrios Kyriazidis
His message about today’s Women’s Day PASOK’s president has released Nikos Androulakis.
More specifically:
“Today we honor women’s struggles and claims for real equality, it is important to recall the highlight of a great Greek woman who, with her political action and boldness, stood in the pioneer of women’s rights by breaking established perceptions and stereotypes.
In 1986, the gynecologist, former president of the Women’s Union of Greece and then Deputy Minister of Health, Maria Kypriotakis, was the rapporteur of the bill that guaranteed the decriminalization of abortion. For the self -evident right, that is, every woman in her body.
Opposite her were the then opposition of the ND, ecclesiastical and other super -conservative bodies, even a portion of the press, who were talking about “crime”. Kypriotakis was not bent. The bill became the law of the state today, 39 years later, abortion is a non -negotiable choice for every woman.
Of course, dark and sexist perceptions of the identification of every woman by her husband or motherhood, such as those of the ND MP who came to the surface yesterday, they continue to exist.
Perceptions that have a reflection and in a series of inequalities that women continue to experience even today.
Inequalities in working life with significant wage divergences and reduced prospects of development over their male colleagues.
Inequalities even in opportunities for political action. A glance at the House of Representatives of the House or Council of Ministers is revealing.
At the same time, incidents of gender violence are increasing rapidly. Only last year there were 15 feminine. Each of them functions each time as a bell of collective awakening. But until the next.
And the state, what is it doing? Sure, not enough.
Equity, respect and equal opportunities are issues of constant struggle. And it is our debt to substantially strengthen the role of women by legally promoting significant claims that alleviate gender inequalities. As Maria Kypriotakis did then.
Happy birthday to all. “
