Trump declared the Day of Greek Independence, National Day of Celebration of the Greek and American Republic, inviting the US people to honor it
Washington’s military cooperation with Athens is a cornerstone for security and stability in Europe, US President Donald Trump notes in a text on its declaration Day of Greek Independence.
In this context, it is noted that the permanent presence of US naval forces in the Gulf of Souda and bilateral educational exercises reinforce the war abilities of the two countries.
As stated, “Greece is one of our oldest friends and strategic partners of our nation, as well as a valuable ally in NATO.”
The US president signed the text for the Day of Greek Independence During the annual reception at the White House for March 25th under cheers of Greek -American and prominent agents of the Greek community.
The Declaration makes reference to the ongoing efforts to deepen US and Greece relations in a series of critical strategic areas.

“On March 25, 1821, inspired by “Freedom or Death”, the Greek revolutionaries began the war of independence against the Ottoman Empire.
The cruel victorious struggle led to the founding of a sovereign Greek state and a national homeland for Greece. On the 204th anniversary of the day of Greek independence, we honor the heroic struggle for freedom and the constant democratic ideals that continue to inspire the world.
America is inextricably tied to both ancient and modern Greece. History and tradition, the struggle for self -determination, emancipation and regeneration are bound by us. The Fathers of the Republic were inspired by the Greek philosophers and politicians to shape the doctrines of our new democracy, now guaranteed in our Constitution. Our national character has been partially shaped by the indelible influence of Greek influence on arts and architecture, language and literature, as well as academic and military tradition.
Today, in all the United States, generations of Greek Americans are enriching our neighborhoods and communities with a rich cultural heritage of traditions based on family, faith, hospitality and responsibility of the citizen.
