For the past 4 years the government has deliberately maintained VAT on a very high level of the whole range of goods sold, as well as EFK in fuel
As part of the initiatives to support citizens against Mitsotakis’ anti -social policies, his parliamentary group SYRIZA He submitted 3 amendments to the draft law of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance “Strengthening the Capital Market and Other Provisions”.
The first amendment concerns the reduction of VAT on basic goods to address accuracy, which is a major social, economic and development problem in Greece in recent years.
The arrangement is part of the holistic plan to deal with the accuracy and repression of the mechanisms of profanity which had been submitted as a proposal of SYRIZA-PSA law in May 2024.
In the last 4 years, the Mitsotakis government has deliberately maintained VAT on the whole spectrum of goods sold at a very high level of goods, as well as the excise duty (EFK) in the fuel, resulting in the sophistication of citizens’ disposable income, reducing money market traffic.
The SYRIZA-PS-proposed arrangement seeks to deal with accuracy, with the aim of ensuring the decent living of all citizens and shielding the value of individual and family income.
Specifically, it is foreseen:
Reduction of special fuel consumption tax at the lowest permitted level of the European Union, ie 421 euros/1000 lt for lead with lead, at 459 euros/1000 lt for all types of unleaded gasoline and 330 euros/1000 lt for diesel combustion oil.
Introduction to zero VAT rate from the wholesale warehouse to the shelf, for 6 months (with the possibility of expanding by 6 additional months, depending on the yield of measure) for their flour and products, their cereals and products, meat, dairy products, eggs, oils, vegetables and vegetables and, vegetables.
VAT nihilism, coupled with the imposition of a ceiling on the gross profit, directly reduces the prices of critical goods at a mid -range level that reaches 30%.
The reduction of VAT on the average of the European Union is permanently established, ie 21% for all goods except those included in the preceding paragraphs, for which they are subject to the reduced and overwhelming rate of 11% and 5% respectively.
A 6% VAT reduction is introduced for water supply and VAT exemption for sewage services (as it was until 2011).
The amendment, which relates to the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries to all scales, is also re -deposited. The amendment is fully costly. According to the relevant report of the State Treasury, the fiscal space exists for all years by 2028, so no additional financial measures are needed. While our country has come out of the Memorandums as early as 2019, the ND government, as opposed to what they have done governments of countries that have experienced a similar economic crisis, refuses to discuss the possibility of rehabilitation of the wage loss of civil servants.
Maintaining their abolition for 13 years after the legislation of Law 4093/2012 is completely lacking in fiscal, political, social and constitutional legitimacy. At the same time, the cut of gifts to the State is also contrary to European Directive 2041/2022/EU on sufficient minimum wages in the European Union.
The SYRIZA-PSM’s amendment responds to a given social need as gifts are an integral part of the total earnings of workers and retirees and do not constitute a donation or tip, but a right derived from their work.
The payment of gifts will, as we all know, have a significant impact on the strengthening of local economies and the national economy as a whole.
Finally, the an amendment to the out -of -court settlement, which aims to protect vulnerable borrowers, is being filed again.
In particular, SYRIZA-PS proposes to abolish the creditor’s ability to stop the regulation request by raising the argument of its evaluation as non-advantageous. Therefore, the only admissible reason for the appeal against the automated regulation proposal is provided for the inaccuracy of the information submitted by the debtor.
In addition, it is sought to protect the applicants for borrowers by automatic suspension of all enforcement measures, without the existence of time limitations and exemptions.
