With citizens in Velestino talked to Kyriakos Mitsotakisas part of his visit to the area, which included stops at renovated Health Center and the New Anchialos Cooperative.

The prime minister referred to government interventions in public health, rehabilitation projects after Daniel bad weather, as well as middle class enhancement policies. He also referred to the need to create new and better -paid jobs, and also stood in the initiatives of chronic issues, such as those related to OPECEPE.

In detail, Mr. Mitsotakis mentioned in his greeting:

“My dear Mayor, Lady and gentlemen in government and parliament, girlfriends and friends,

I am very pleased to be with you today in this historical place, which I visit to inaugurate, although it has already been given in operation, a very important project for the local community, which is nothing more than the fully renovated health center of your municipality.

I had the opportunity to tour his premises a little while ago, but I think you know much better than me, as you are users of his services, in what situation we received a few years ago and how in a very short time, under the supervision of the Ministry and the Competent Commander, area.

And it is worth noting that funding for this project comes from the resources of the Recovery Fund. Five years ago, in a complex negotiation, we managed and secured 36 billion euros of additional resources for our country. The results of this negotiation are starting and now appear everywhere in Greece. Health Centers, such as that of Velestino, will have renovated, measure, 160. I repeat, 160 across the country.

The resources of the recovery fund renovates the emergency departments in more than 80 hospitals. We are essentially investing in public health, building equipment, human resources, preventive examinations.

If you get a message to do a preventive examination, don’t neglect it, please very much. Our 60,000 fellow citizens have been identified with diseases that did not know. Among them tens of thousands of women with early breast cancer who, if they had not received a notice from the Greek state to go to make a preventive mammography, would not even know him.

This means investing in practice in practice and protecting our fellow citizens before they get sick. This is the big change we are launching in public health in our country.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis

But I am today in Magnesia and in order to be able to inspect facilities that had been affected by natural disasters on the one hand.

I found myself recently in the very beautiful cooperative of New Anchialos. Two years ago we had to manage a very problematic fire. The cooperative was done then. Today the cooperative is fully functional. Why? Because the state aid was close to him and was able to restore the significant damage that was done. Today the cooperative is operating, producing excellent products and the future is prescribed optimistic.

But the mayor also spoke about the great natural destruction of “Daniel”. And you know very well, I have visited Thessaly many times. We have a very close cooperation with all competent bodies, with the region. Billions of euros are falling in Thessaly so that we can repair the damage.

Contracts for Daniel’s road projects have already been signed. Railway contracts have already been signed. Irrigation networks have already begun and many have already been completed.

Because, in fact, this very natural disaster reminded us of something, girlfriends and friends: that unfortunately the climate crisis is already with us and we must make sure that we are shielded as a country and resistant as a country.

And I say that, why? Today is World Environment Day – let’s not forget that – and we have an obligation as a state but also as a local government, first and foremost to protect the most valuable resource that nature no longer gives us so generously, and I am referring to water management.

The Thessaly Water Management Organization has begun its work, with some delays but will increase rates. We will invest a lot of money in Thessaly’s shielding in projects that are in character and civil protection, as well as water management projects. We are already investing in closed irrigation networks.

But we need the cooperation of all of you in order to be able to limit any waste and preserve water as a pupil because it is a factor of survival and prosperity of the whole of Thessaly. Let us remember this today, girlfriends and friends, who is World Environment Day.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis

And after my visit here to Velestino, I will be in the Volos industrial zone and visit two investments, two major units that create many jobs.

The first repairs the trains of line 1 of electricity in Athens. In 2026 in Athens we will have new trains, fully repaired. The work is done here in Volos, with many jobs created, so that we can offer our fellow citizens in the decent transport basin.

And immediately afterwards I will visit an innovative industry that invests in the defense sector. He has been investing in the field of defense for many years. There are not many who know that here, just below Volos, the whole Leopard shell is made, the Patriot missile launcher is made, the Belharra frigates are manufactured.

I would like to remind you that just yesterday we saw the very beautiful images, three Belharra frigates in the water, all three will be delivered in 2026, and the acquisition of the fourth frigate, “Themistocles” is also launched.

But what we are interested in, girlfriends and friends, in this new changing landscape is not just buying weapons systems from abroad and giving billions to companies that create jobs abroad. What we are now asking for is to have a 25%added Greek value to the production.

What does this mean? That the money we are investing in our national defense will return to our homeland in well -paid jobs. This is the goal of this policy: to develop our own know -how and cutting -edge technology, which – why not? – to be able to export abroad.

And this, why does it matter, girlfriends and friends? It is important because first and foremost our concern and bet – I want to remind – of the second four years were one: The best salaries and most jobs for every Greek woman and every Greek.

We have created over 500,000 jobs in our home country over the last six years. Unemployment from 17% went to 8%. The young children who are with us today and who are taking exams to get to the university, at the Greek State University, will know that they will have a much better chance of finding a job then and not to emigrate. And the brain drain has become brain regain and for the first time many more returns to our homeland than those who leave.

And I say this, because some have recently reappeared in public dialogue trying to rewrite the story and make white black, but they chose the wrong time.

Think about a little. We’re in June 2025. I don’t need to remind you where we were such a time in 2015, ten years ago. With closed banks, with pensioners outside the ATMs, pensions and salaries, with the country at the limits of bankruptcy and with young people, yes, then leave Greece because they did not see any prospects.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis

We made a lot of progress, girlfriends and friends. We didn’t do everything and we still have a lot of work to do. And I am the first to tell you that wherever mistakes are made we recognize them, we correct them.

We had problems with OPEKEPE over time, and you know them. It’s nothing new. The issue has not been created in the last five years. I made a bold decision and I said: Finally OPEKEPE will go to AADE and farmers and breeders will receive their subsidies on time without fraud. In order for the real beneficiaries to get the money and not those who can declare animals that exist only in their imagination.

These are difficult and bold decisions, but in this struggle we will continue.

We close two years of governance, shortly from now, in a few weeks. You trusted us, you gave us a very clear command to implement our government work. We have two more years, we will run even faster and be sure and confident that in 2027 Greek citizens will trust us.

Let me tell you a big thank you for defying the heat, today it seems to me to be the first day here …

The retirees, I am glad you are saying, it is worth saying that. Be careful to see what it means to have public financially and be effective in dealing with tax evasion. I announced a month ago that we had been able to have a much better financial performance for the past year than we were expecting. At a time when many European countries are forced, be careful, by the European Commission, to take cuts, unlawful measures.

We produce surpluses. How do we return these benefits to society? In addition to the increases we give, yes, we are the ones who said that each November that was an extraordinary aid, now we are instituted and there will be a permanent support of 250 euros every November to retirees, because the economy allows us to do so.

And we did something else for those who rent houses. And I know this is not something that can be so much concerned with the Greek region, but it is very much for urban centers, it concerns young people and young people, who are going today and trying to make a family. We said we would return a declared rent back to all tenants in November. It is a support, not negligible. We want more and we will do more.

The Katrougalou law is already changing, the personal difference “erases”. You know this, pensions are increasing, for the first time.

And to say one more thing, do a little patience, because in September we will have the opportunity to make our announcements, as part of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition for the financial year 2026.

What I told you, rents, reinforcement of pensioners in November, which becomes regular and not extraordinary, do not concern 2026, they relate to 2025. We have not budgeted, are above what we had budgeted.

Well, in 2026 we will turn our attention to those who have been tested most, in support of the middle class and be confident and confident that the economy overflows the growth dividend will return to retirees, the workers, the middle class, the middle class, the middle class, the We face them.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here today. I wish all the good, welcoming new health center and always be in such pleasant meetings.

Be good, thank you very much. “
