The Mystreet application, a modern digital tool that enables citizens to contribute to the preservation of legality and transparency in public spaces, was presented today at a meeting under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Palace.
In the Mystreet App, which citizens can download on their mobile or tablet, the user has access, through easy -to -use interactive maps, to important information and features such as:
-Chrite spaces: Show active leases with details such as area, power duration and borders of allocated area.
-Electric Vehicles Charging: Map with available chargers and elements such as provider and power.
-Visible gathering signs: View defined refuge points in emergencies.
-Constantly, the application will include information on the parking lots of disabled and the places where they are installed defibrillators.
If the user decides to make a complaint, he selects from the list the type of complaint according to the infringement he has identified (eg, exceeding bank seating, disabled access). Optionally, it may add a description to the comment field. After completing the form, the user determines whether the complaint will be anonymous or surname.
So far, within 20 days of the application, 5,736 registered concessions have been made by 60 municipalities, while 9,381 citizens have downloaded the application and 1,273 complaints have been submitted.
During the presentation the Prime Minister stated:
“First of all, to express my satisfaction with this extremely useful new application. If I had to describe it in simple words, mystreet is essentially the mycoast of the city. It is an application that, as we have seen, enables any citizen, but also a municipal officer, a municipal police officer, can find at any time if a public space has been granted and to what extent legally or if there has been any infringement of those who, unfortunately, often see us in our cities.
The bet, as the mayor said -and I want to congratulate him on the speed with which he made sure to incorporate all relevant information into the application -the bet is to recover public space for citizens, especially citizens who have disability, who have mobility problems, our elderly.
We are witnessed daily by many complaints by our fellow citizens who are outraged by the fact that commercial uses are apparently extending beyond the legal limits. Citizens now have the opportunity to find at all times in real time if this is happening and obviously to make a complaint if they consider that there is illegal public space.
Just as it was with Mycoast, which put in place on our beaches, so I am sure that mystreet will also put order on our streets and squares.
However, in order to be able to complete all the steps needed to make mystreet completely functional, my dear President, the cooperation of all municipalities, by incorporating the relevant data into the digital platform. You are right to say that the mayors will ultimately be politically beneficial if they are composed by the majority of citizens who demand that they have access to the public space.
We are by no means against entrepreneurship, but we are always reunited with legal entrepreneurship. If one has leased a hundred meters, it is not possible to make them three hundred and this is something that will seem very easily through the use of this application, to which, of course, we hope to add other useful information, such as disabled ramps, defibrillators, concentration points. It is a very useful geospatial platform, which can be developed in many different ways.
So again congratulations. I ask our fellow citizens to download the relevant application and make use of it and our own obligation is to commit, as we did in the case of Mycoast, that whenever there are complaints, they will be investigated, so that citizens will become allies in this very large alliance we do, state, states, states, states.
The rest, mayor, we’ll see them close tomorrow, and probably tomorrow. I think it is right what we do, to devote a whole day to Thessaloniki, so that the works of northern Greece and especially Thessaloniki – and there are many – in a speech that must be de facto covered by many different objects. So tomorrow we will have the opportunity to talk about Thessaloniki. Thank you very much, Mayor. “
Digital governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou noted: “Mystreet is doing what his title also says: it arranges the road, the sidewalk or the square. It is a tool that is mainly addressed and associated with public spaces. But because we did not have a joint application for geospatial information, it also helps us with some important elements of organization of our cities. ” And he added: “We already have 1,273 complaints. It is very important that without even being associated, the application is particularly advertised, citizens and tenants want to take back the communal space. In collaboration with the Self -Government, we can do this. “
According to the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, in 2025 the controls and violations confirmed by the Greek Police for bank seats increased. According to the data provided, 33,452 checks were carried out in the first half of 2025 and 998 violations were confirmed for 31,391 checks and 743 infringements in 2024.
The State Minister Akis Skertsos pointed out: “We want to put pressure on the part of the citizens especially to the municipal municipal authorities, so that they can use this digital application, to pass all the elements, and to be able to have a more harmonious coexistence and coexistence of pedestrians with their businessmen.
We do not, obviously, to circumvent any of the rights, on any side, but we want a public space that must give respect especially to our most vulnerable fellow citizens who want to walk freely and safely in their city. “
The president of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) Lazaros Kirizoglou stressed: “The public space must be re -acquired by society. A mother with a stroller and two children cannot pass between the main use area and the second shop they have made on the sidewalks. From the first moment we were in favor of the application. The winner will come out of the one who will apply it, even if some are temporarily disagreeing. “
Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis, head of the largest municipality in the country who has registered all leases (more than 1,200), said: “It is really an application that solves our hands, a tool that solves the hands not only to the citizens who do not make any complaints, but also to the public, They can now at all times and in the least time they can see where there is and to what extent the delinquency. “
