Androulakis: From the taxation of the super profits of energy companies to finance shield measures for society

by

The president of PASOK – Movement for Change, visited today a factory for the production of environmentally friendly products, at 70 km of the Athens-Lamia National Road. Nikos Androulakis.

This Greek company is one of the largest producers in Europe in drink straws and other disposable catering products with three production facilities in Europe and a sales network in 52 countries worldwide.

Asked about the accuracy, Mr. Androulakis stressed:

“The Greek people, like all the peoples of Europe, are living in a very difficult situation with the appreciation. Other European countries, however, have already taken measures to address the rise in inequality, the big problem of rising energy prices and of course the rise in commodity prices that affect the most vulnerable Greeks.

Our country and the government must immediately reduce VAT on basic goods. More than one billion euros is the money he has received from non-budget VAT due to price increases. This money must be returned to the market.

Imposition of a ceiling on the adjustment clause. Tariffs increase and make the daily life of the Greek even more difficult.

Also, they clearly need to be taxed super profits of large energy companies and this money, which the European Commission estimates will reach 200 billion across Europe in 2022, to fall back on the market as a shield for the most vulnerable Greeks.

Finally, we believe that other measures should be taken, such as the brave increase of the minimum wage to 751 euros and of course, a new form of EKAS which we have budgeted at 600 to 650 million euros and concerns 350,000 small pensioners.

Asked about the atrocities against civilians in Ukraine, the president of PASOK – Movement for Change said: “I unequivocally condemn the atrocities against civilians in Ukraine. “All those responsible for this shocking massacre must be brought to justice at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.”
