Today, the confrontation between the government and the opposition, centered on it, is being brought to the Parliament foreign policy.

The prime minister, who will speak at around 11 am, decided to expand the discussion requested by the president of PASOK Nikos Androulakis for the Palestinian issue, in a comprehensive discussion on foreign policy issues, so that he can develop all the logic of the Greek handling of foreign affairs and give the opportunity to the other political leaders to position themselves for all fronts.

In this context, according to information, the prime minister will explain Greece’s position and the benefits that have arisen for the country from this attitude on all fronts: European, American, Greek-Turkish, Middle Eastern, while it will focus in particular on highlighting the results that active diplomacy brings in contrast to the diplomacy of inactivity and following events.

He is expected to underline that the economic policy implemented by the government since 2019 and upgrading the socio-political position of the country, allows it to shield itself defensively. And the defense to form one side of the shield, while the other side is the diplomacy.

According to the same information, the prime minister will refer to the Palestinian issue, highlighting his presence at the Conference for peace in Gaza, the good relations with Israel, but also the visit to Athens, the day after the Conference, of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Varsen Agabekian Sahin. Data that allow Greece to claim a role the next day in Gaza either in the humanitarian part or in the field of reconstruction.

Finally, for the Greek-Turkishis expected to argue in favor of the calm waters policyrecalling the positive consequences it has and emphasizing at the same time that this does not mean that the main difference with Turkey does not remain (EEZ and continental shelf) and that it does not prevent our country from advancing its national planning, which is paying off and this can be seen from:

  • The extension of territorial waters in the Ionian Sea to 12 nautical miles
  • The agreement delimiting the Exclusive Economic Zone with Italy and Egypt
  • Marine spatial planning
  • The tenders for the search for hydrocarbons in underwater plots south of Crete, with the participation of the American giant Chevron
  • The creation of two new Marine Parks, in the Ionian and in the southern Cyclades.

Facts, which he is expected to say, constitute that Greece exercises its sovereign rights on the field and not at the level of slogans and slogans.
