Hard attack on Aphrodite Latinopoulou but also to the prime minister who “instruments the Far Right”, launched in a statement the SYRIZA-PS noting that “for the second day in a row Mrs. Latinopoulou continues to provoke public opinion” and explains:
“He started by praising the dictator of August 4 and fascist Ioannis Metaxas, wanting to rewrite the history of the National Resistance. And she went on to ask “to fire rubbish teachers” who in her opinion do not properly approach teaching the meaning of national anniversaries”.
He then clarifies: “No to Nazism and Fascism, the Greek People with the body of the Resistance said universally the heroic action of EAM-ELAS. The term “garbage” is inspired by Nazi ideology. So, one can easily understand how much sensitivity Mrs. Latinopoulou has for the correct teaching of the anti-fascist struggle of the Greek people.”
Generalizing, he concludes: “The major issue, however, is another one: Who normalized Ms. Latinopoulou’s views, placed her at the center of the political debate, and satisfied her demands?” Unfortunately, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with the legislative initiative for the Unknown Soldier, with the doctrine of his immigration policy, with the discrediting of the rule of law and institutions, in order to rally his own electoral audience and appear himself as the only governmental solution between two extremes. He’s not the first to do it. He’s not the only one who did it. And he knows very well what it means to instrumentalize the Far Right.”
