Androulakis in Delphi: Mr. Mitsotakis’s 43 billion fiscal expansion did not take place

by

The need for serious long-term resilience planning with the aim of strengthening the green economy, health, education and the new generation, against the background of the energy crisis and the tense situation in Ukraine was praised by the President of the Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis during his second day 7th Delphi Economic Forum.

Answering, first of all, the question of the Bloomberg News journalist, Nikos Chrysoloras, regarding the request for early elections, he characteristically stressed: “We are the only party that has a rise in the polls. It is in my interest to call for elections. Obviously I do not want to, but whether I ask for it or not, he will do it when every prime minister wants it. The issue for the people at the moment is for a prime minister to deal with the energy crisis, not to call for elections. “This is a pseudo-dilemma.”

At this point, he stressed that on May 8, the name and the symbol with which the party will run in the next elections will be decided.

At the same time, he referred to the 43 billion euros in fiscal expansion given by the government, noting that “they did not take place, we gave uncontrollable money in the wrong way”. He added that the strategy for the energy crisis is also wrong, as, against the background of the upcoming Ukrainian crisis in recent months, Greece was the only country that increased electricity production by 25%, when no European leader proceeded with such a movement.

On the other hand, the president of KINAL touched on the government’s strategy on a number of issues, such as refundable depositthe restoration of last summer glowing, but also the demographic.

Especially for his subject demographiccited the example of using the Recovery Fund’s resources in Spain, Italy and Portugal, with governments there giving thousands of homes and offering them to young couples:

“I have been talking about the demographic for a year now. The other states give impetus to the new generations, they make interventions. They take thousands of houses and offer them to young couples, with money from the Recovery Fund: 26,000 houses in Portugal, 20,000 in Spain, 10,000 in Italy “, adding that for this reason Greece has included in the Fund only 100 houses, 70 in Athens, 30 in Thessaloniki.

Mr. Androulakis referred, however, to the attitude of KINAL in relation to vaccine and pandemicbut also the Ukrainian crisis: “We faced two dilemmas, the vaccine and Ukraine: We were the ones who campaigned for the vaccine, we took a clear stand in favor of it to break the fear.”

Regarding Ukraine“We stand firm in the violation of international law, while regarding the repayable advance given to companies in the midst of a pandemic, he claimed that 6.5 billion euros were donated that were not needed, as the criteria were such that many took money that they did not need. “These are policies of an old logic.”
