Omar Hutchinson thanked Arsenal and the club’s supporters after deciding to leave North London for Chelsea.

The transfer was surprising as the 18-year-old striker wanted a great future at the Emirates, especially after a breakout campaign for the youth team last season.

His performance, although he never appeared in the first team, earned him a call-up to Mikel Arteta’s Premier League squad during the competition.

Despite his decision to leave Arsenal, Hutchinson was very grateful for his time at the club and sent an emotional message to his fans after confirming his move to Chelsea.

Writing on social media, he said:

“My experience at Arsenal was wonderful and memorable.

“I always remember my time here and the wonderful journey it took me.

“It will be memorable and will never be forgotten.”

“I would like to thank all the staff, managers and my teammates for making me feel so welcome and respected by Arsenal. I am very happy.”

And finally, I would like to thank all the Arsenal fans for supporting me and showing me my love.

“In words, I can’t explain how grateful, respected and loved you are!”

Chelsea announced a deal with Hutchinson on Saturday, said Jim Fraser, head of youth recruiting.

“He’s a great addition to join us as an exciting and up-and-coming talent who wants to make an impact quickly in senior games.”

Despite representing England at youth level, the 18-year-old made his Jamaica debut in a friendly match against Catalonia in May this year.
