Erik Ten Hag believes Cristiano Ronaldo could stay at Manchester United after next season, despite the Portuguese strikers’ dismissal in the summer.
Ronaldo has one more year left on his two-year deal with United last summer, with the option to extend that deal for a further 12 months.
However, Ronaldo is strongly associated with leaving Old Trafford after saying he is ready to leave the Premier League club before the 2022-23 season begins.
The 37-year-old has not participated in pre-season training with United this summer for “personal reasons”.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, scored 24 goals in 38 games in all tournaments last season as Manchester United finished sixth in the Premier League and failed to win the paddy field trophy five times in a row.
When asked if it would be difficult to deal with a player who only has one year left on his contract, Ten Hezzy replied: [for a further year]..
‘Yes [Ronaldo could stay beyond this season].. Of course, I signed here for three years, but it is also short term in football. We have to win from the beginning. So I’m not looking too far. “
Tenhag admitted that he had not yet spoken to Ronaldo following the transfer speculation, but seemed relaxed about the situation.
The Dutchman, who joined United from Ajax at the end of last season, also helped adapt to Ronaldo’s style of play.
christian can do that [pressing from the front]Tenhug insisted. He showed his entire career.
“We want to play in a particular way. The best players can contribute and Ronaldo is absolutely the best player in our team.”
Tenhug will take charge of one of the most successful clubs in history, but it has been a difficult time since Sir Alex Ferguson resigned in 2012.
David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick have come and gone since Ferguson’s departure, but Ten Hag is his glory, I am convinced he is a man who will reclaim his days.
“I must say I have a strong faith,” he said. “This is a big challenge, but I have been getting the most out of my team wherever I go.
“This is the most difficult project. I’m aware of it, but I’m here, so I’m sure I can do it.
“The first objective is to win every game. It must be our focus for Manchester United.
“Good. I did it because of that. I know it is not an easy task, but working together with the people around me gives me joy and energy. It is a success. It should be a platform for”.
