Red Bull team principal Christian Horner does not consider Charles Leclerc a “charger” even after the Ferrari driver made a huge mistake at the French Grand Prix.

Leclerc started the race on Sunday from pole and managed to stop Max Verstappen on the opening stage, and the fans looked to be in for a great race at Circuit Paul Ricard.

However, just two laps after boxing the Red Bull driver on lap 18, Leclerc was forced to retire after hitting a barrier, handing Verstappen a victory on a silver platter.

This is the latest in a series of accidents that Monaco has suffered, with the last Imola chasing down Sergio Pérez in second place, spinning into the barrier and falling off the podium to the finish. 6th

Major points were constantly being thrown around, some labeling Leclerc a “bottle job” or “shock”, but he responded when the latter was handed over to Horner on Sky Sports after the French Grand Prix. : “I don’t think so. Fine. .

“I don’t know if anything else contributed to his accident. He is a very strong driver.”

-I mean these two guys [Leclerc and Verstappen], Take action and push each other real hard. And these cars are on the verge of these conditions.

“His bad luck is our luck today and continues throughout the year.”

It was believed that the accelerator pedal problem first caused the accident, but Leclerc later admitted that he was simply responsible, saying: “I made a mistake at the wrong time.”

Despite having the fastest car, Leclerc and Ferrari lost countless points this season due to driver error, strategic mistakes and reliability issues. Verstappen and Red Bull benefit from these mistakes.

As a result, the Dutch hold an impressive 63-point lead over Mongasque, with Ferrari 82 points ahead of Red Bull in the constructors’ ranking. He will definitely please Verstappen fans, but he can’t help but feel potentially great. Not only was the competition for the overall title suspended, but also the race in France.

“It’s amazing to see Charles put Charles in the pits. He’ll have a couple of laps on the tyres,” added Horner.

“It will be a great battle. [Our] The tire temperatures were pretty much under control, the wear looked good and I didn’t have as many blisters as Ferrari, so I felt pretty strong so I made an aggressive stop.
