Sir Alex Ferguson arrived at Manchester United training ground on Tuesday and Cristiano Ronaldo discussed his future with the club’s hierarchy.
Ronaldo wants to leave “United” this summer, but so far no buyer has bought a 37-year-old player.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Ronaldo, but both clubs scrapped the move.
Ronaldo did not join the United squad for pre-season tours in the Far East and Australia and trained alone in Portugal for family reasons.
Ronaldo returned to Manchester on Monday night ahead of another meeting between new manager Erik Ten Hag and United chief executive Richard Arnold.
On Tuesday, Ronaldo returned to Carrington for the first time this summer, with the addition of his agent Jorge Mendes. He had been discussing the departure of the front line for several weeks.
After spending six years at Old Trafford, Ferguson, who has a close relationship with Ronaldo, also made a rare appearance at Carrington.
The 80-year-old helped convince Ronaldo to return to United last year and is urging his former player to stay at Tenhug.
When asked for the latest information on Ronaldo’s condition last week, Tenhug said: Same as last week.
“Of course worry is not the right word [over his absence]..
“I’m focusing on the players and they’re playing really well. They’re in good shape and I’m more focused on that. Waiting for him to come. No. Then we’ll put it together.”
Two new United signings, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, who joined in a £55m deal from Ajax, also arrived at Carrington on Tuesday.
