“Silver” Magda Klakala at the World Girls Taekwondo Championship

by

Without losing a set until the semi-finals at the World Boys/Girls Taekwondo Championships in Sofia, Magdaleni Klakala won the silver medal in the -51 kg category, which is also of historical significance, since it is the first for our country in this particular age group globally.

Klakala looked unstoppable until the semi-finals. With zero losses in sets, she initially defeated Azera Hasanova 2-0, Korea’s Cho in the quarterfinals and Uzbekistan’s Talibyanova in the semifinals. In the final and against Irani Alipour, he made every possible effort to be able to continue the streak, but to no avail. She was defeated 2-0, taking the second place and the silver medal of the category, which, as was evident from her reactions immediately after the completion of the final, did not leave her satisfied at all.

And how can he leave her, when against traditional powers of the sport (Korea, Iran), he claimed victory on equal footing. A victory that eventually came in three of the four total events, which put her in second place in the world in a category where a total of 29 gymnasts participated.
