Moeen Ali says he is “proud” to record the fastest half-century in England’s history in T20 cricket, but does not expect this record to last long.

Moin defeated 16-ball 50 and shared a 106-run partnership with Johnny Bainesu, leading England to 234-6 in the first T20 International against South Africa in Bristol.

Bainesu was sent off from the last ball on 90 of 53 big balls as his wonderful summer continued.

England lost starters Jos Buttler and Jason Roy on a power play but came back brilliantly to post the second-highest T20 score, with David Malang contributing 43-23.

South Africa was 7-2 and 136-5 but temporarily threatened Tristan Stubbs with playing 72 from 28 balls, including 72 from 8 balls.

However, England have always been a leader in the game, with the expensive Richard Gleason stealing three wickets, Adil Rashid and Reece Topley claiming two, and Chris Jordan conceding just 30 runs from four overs.

That means a lot, we have people in our locker room scoring immediately, and now I can boast of having the fastest 50 for England with a T20 cricket rise. I go to the dressing room and give him a big one-Moin sticks out his tongue and says.

“It’s a big thing to be proud of, but I’m sure it’s going to collapse soon. For someone like me, who’s not the best ball hitter like some guys, it was a good sized coat…

“Here you can hit 6 and pick the bowlers you need and chase them down. I saw some balls and played the shots.”

Moin was quick to praise Bainesu’s efforts, and the Yorkshireman benefited from three catches, reaching 90 and maintaining his impressive form.

“John is the one I always enjoyed fighting. He was very busy and strong and powerful and the way he punched tonight was very interesting,” Moin said. “It was nice to be on the other side.”

The multi-talented Moen also welcomed Jordan as Pace Bowler demonstrated his skills at the time of his death, allowing only eight runs in total for 18 overs and 20 overs.

“CJ has closed the game for us,” Moyne added. He is a very important player and has experience all over the world.

“He struggled in his role for a couple of years and he was great this summer. We know how good he is, how fast he is and what a great player he is.”

During the recent day’s international series against South Africa and India, England wanted to put on the first of three T20 fireworks against Protea.

Whiteball captain Butler said: It was good to see.

“We were complaining about such a performance. We scored over 200 points against India at Trentbridge, which was also very impressive here.

I knew it would be a tight match. It is a small piece of land and a large entrance door. Getting the first wickets back was very important and I thought Chris Jordan’s bowling on the 18th was great and changed the momentum.

England and South Africa travel to Cardiff for their second T20 International on Thursday night.
