High on the table tennis federation’s agenda, after all, is the prospect of taking over the World Table Tennis Championship for people with Parkinson’s. According to her candidacy, her concern is to organize the big sports event in 2023 in Heraklion. Greece has been qualified by the World Federation in the second phase of evaluation of the nominations, at which point it is optimistic that it will be selected and the final decision is expected at the end of the month.
Kostas Papageorgiou visited the “Lyttos Beach Hotel” in Hersonissos, where he met with the owner, Pantelis Sapounakis, and the manager, Nikos Kritsotakis. He was guided to all the areas of the five-star hotel, as this has been suggested by the Greek dossier for the accommodation part of the Parkinson’s World Championship. In the same meeting, other possible cooperation possibilities were discussed, as the Sapunaki group supports sports.
Earlier, the head of the EFOEPA administration had a meeting at “Dyos Aorakia” with the manager of the indoor gym, Dimitris Tsirakos. He was guided through all the areas of the modern and large facility, which will host the Parkinson’s World Championship, if Greece takes the event.
A few days ago, moreover, the president of the Federation had a meeting in Rethymno with the Mayor, Giorgos Marinakis, and the vice-mayor of Tourism-Entrepreneurship and Sports, Pepi Birlirakis, together with the president of the Rethymno Table Tennis Club, Dimitris Kaziale, and the coach of the association and former international athlete, Spyros Kioufi.
Various sports issues in the region and the possibility of undertaking an event were discussed.
