The Ionian Amateur, by decision of the General Assembly held on 1/12/21, is pleased to announce the establishment of a club for the disabled under the name Athletic Club Ionian Nice Disabled 2021.
The great effort made in recent years for Ionikos, our team, to finally be -apart from a great sports club- and a living cell of our society and city, continues uninterrupted.
We were led to this decision after many months of processes and having listened to the real needs of our fellow human beings who want to participate in the sports of people with disabilities and until today have not had the opportunity in our wider area. Thus, the Ionian Disabled becomes the first club in Nice and Piraeus that comes to give a way out to young children – and not only – who are forced to travel daily to remote areas to play sports or to children who until now wanted to learn about sports for the disabled and did not have the opportunity.
At the same time, we all get the joy, through our daily engagement with this part of sports, to understand our self-evident needs and obligations towards our fellow human beings and we feel ready to put on the table anyone who wishes to contribute to this news of ours. start.
The beginning, then, will be made by the sport of swimming where we will seek with graduates and distinguished coaches, to welcome our young athletes. We will soon introduce new sports, always on the condition that we have ensured a perfect training environment both at the level of coaches and facilities.
At this point we would like to personally thank the Mayor of our city Mr. George Ioakeimidis as well as the Deputy Mayor of Sports Mr. Lefteris Hatzipavlidis, as from the first moment we presented our plan for Ionika Nikaia disabled they showed real and substantial interest, as well as a full understanding of the need for such an endeavor, so that we can all move forward together in its implementation.
We hope that today is the occasion to start a great dialogue – which should have started years ago – between all of us to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities.
