Jadon Sancho on how Manchester United had to overcome a humiliating defeat at Brentford.
United lost the first two games of the season under new manager Eric ten Hag, including a very weak 4-0 loss at Brentford Community Stadium.
However, since then the team have progressed well, beating Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester to complete a three-match winning streak for the first time since April 2021.
After the Brentford match, Ten Hug was reported to be furious with his team and challenged his players to run a grueling 13.8 km the next day.
We had to. Sancho said that he should not have lost like this.
Everyone took it as running more and being fitter and then they carried on. After the Brentford game I felt like I needed to wake up but now I’ve won three in a row.
In addition to the races, Ten Haag held a two-hour outdoor meeting between players and staff.
Meanwhile, Sancho has endured a very disappointing first season at Old Trafford after a £73m move from Borussia Dortmund last season and appears to have improved his form significantly.
He scored in wins over Liverpool and Leicester, nearly matching his number of Premier League goals the previous season.
“We live together. We play more like managers and everyone loves it at the moment,” the 22-year-old said.
We address playing styles in training, including player intelligence and getting to know each other better. I think there is more information and a clearer plan of what to do, especially in this particular area.
“We are sticking to our game plan and working to improve every training session, just like the coach wanted us to do. I feel good.”
“Arsenal [United’s next opponents] We won 5 out of 5 games, so we know it’s going to be a tough game. The boys need to recover and prepare for Sunday.
