Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) ended their participation in the Champions League group stage with a victory. Already classified for the round of 16, the French thrashed Club Brugge (BEL) by 4-1 this Tuesday (7), at Parque dos Príncipes.

Without Neymar, who is recovering from an injury to his left ankle, Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi led the Parisians’ triumph. The French and the Argentine scored twice each.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team needed just two minutes to open the scoring, with Mbappé, who took advantage of goalkeeper Mignolet’s rebound to score. Five minutes later, the forward expanded after receiving a beautiful pass from Di María over the Belgian defense.

Mbappé also participated in the third goal, scored in the first half. The Frenchman started from the left on a counterattack and played for Messi, who carried the ball through the middle, cut a marker and kicked placed from the half moon to score, at 38.

Club Brugge cashed at 22 of the final stage, with Mats Rits, but insufficient for the visitors’ reaction. Right after the goal of the Belgians, Messi, with a penalty, closed the rout at 31.

In the other Group A game, RB Leipzig (ALE) hosted Manchester City (ING) and beat Pep Guardiola’s team 2-1. Szoboszlai and André Silva scored for the Germans and Mahrez scored for the English.

The results of this Tuesday, however, did not change the configuration of the classifieds for the Champions knockout. City, despite the defeat in Germany, advanced in first place, with 12 points, and PSG ranked second, with 11.

RB Leipzig, on the other hand, took advantage of Club Brugge’s defeat in Paris and secured a spot in the Europa League with third place in the group.
