The international table tennis tournament of veterans, which was to take place in Loutraki from 14 to 16 October 2022 (original date because after the extension of registrations it had been reduced to three days), has been cancelled.
It was included in the ITTF calendar with the World Veterans Tournament, related to the World Veterans Championship of Oman, but unfortunately did not meet with much response. The Greek and world federations of the sport jointly decided to cancel the tournament, but agreed that “there is room for similar events in the future”. The announcement of EFOEPA on Wednesday 21/09 was as follows:
“E.F.O.Epa together with the ITTF, in a climate of excellent cooperation, announces the cancellation of the ITTF World Veterans Tournament – Road to Oman | Loutraki 13 to 16 October 2022 Loutraki, Greece. ITTF and EFOA, agreed that there is room for similar events, perhaps with a different structure on behalf of the World Federation, they pledged to continue working together so that in the future an International Veterans Open Championship becomes a reality in our country, always under the auspices of the ITTF”.
