Independiente del Valle became this Saturday (1st) the Ecuadorian team that most times won the Copa Sudamericana. By beating São Paulo in the decision, he placed in his gallery the second trophy of the tournament.

Also champion in 2019, Del Valle gives Ecuador the country’s third title in the championship. LDU has also won the tournament once, in 2009.

Played since 2002, the competition has already had 17 different champions, among Argentine, Brazilian, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Mexican, Chilean and Peruvian clubs. Argentina leads the ranking of conquests with nine titles, followed by Brazil, with five, and Ecuador, with three.

The first Brazilian team to win the competition was Internacional, in 2008. Chapecoense, São Paulo and Athletico Paranaense are the other teams in the country that have already won the tournament.
