Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood, 21, was arrested again this Saturday (15) on suspicion of violating the conditions imposed on his bail. The player had been arrested in January of this year, after being accused of assault and sexual violence.

“Manchester Police are aware of allegations that a 21-year-old has violated his probation. An arrest was made on 15 October,” a spokesman for the agency announced, without directly naming the suspect.

The UK Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the athlete was charged with attempted rape, assault and bodily harm. The magistrates explained that the charges are related to a single victim, and that Greenwood will appear in court for the first time next Monday (17).

The athlete was arrested for the first time in January, after being reported via social media by his ex-girlfriend, Harriet Robson. In photos and videos, she showed her bloodied face and body injuries. “For everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood does to me,” she posted.

According to the local press, the player would have tried to contact his ex-girlfriend, thus failing to comply with one of the conditions for his freedom.

In January, the striker held as a promise of English football posted bail and was released on parole after giving evidence.

After the case, Greenwood had his contract suspended by Manchester United and was removed from the team. Then-sponsor Nike ended the relationship with the player, and EA Sports removed the athlete’s profile from the video game Fifa.

As the contract remains suspended so far, United has not commented on the athlete’s new detention, nor on the player’s future.
