I want you to know that it was a great honor for me to hold your Olympic medals accompanied by our friends and Olympians, Areti Athanasopoulou and Elli Mystakidou. My legs were shaking and my hands were cut. I imagine the girls would feel something similar. The weight of these medals is great. It reminded me how much effort, pain, time and sweat you have sacrificed to raise our Greece high. I hope you smiled when you saw us. We are very proud of you. And I’m not just talking about your discrimination. I’m mainly talking about the life attitude you had and the legacy you leave behind. I bow to the greatness of your soul. I don’t know if there are walls up there in heaven to break down…but I’m sure the neighborhood of angels will open the doors wide for a wonderful person to walk through.”
