The World Cup starts on Sunday (20) in Qatar. In addition to being the first time that the World Cup takes place in a country in the Middle East and at the end of the year, the tournament will be marked by a series of particularities.
The vast majority of games will take place in a single city, Doha, the country’s capital. FIFA even created the term “Pocket Cup”, due to the small geographic space in which the event will be concentrated.
The local culture is also expected to bring a different experience to the fan, as any public display of affection is prohibited in Qatar. In addition, alcohol consumption is not allowed by the country’s official religion, Islam – and alcoholic beverages will only be allowed in specific places.
The first match will be between the host country and Ecuador. The Brazilian team enters the field for the first time on November 24 to face Serbia.
This Wednesday’s Breakfast (16th) discusses the expectations for the Cup and the favorite teams, in addition to the chances of Brazil getting the sixth and how the political climate around here can influence the fans.
