Three days before the debut of the Brazilian team in the Qatar World Cup, against Serbia on Thursday (24), former striker and current senator Romário wrote a letter of encouragement to Neymar.

Baixinho published his letter on The Players Tribune Brasil, a website created for athletes to get closer to their fans, and posted it on their social networks.

In the long text, Romário praised Tite’s number 10 shirt and highlighted the importance he has for Brazilian football to win a World Cup again. For this, he asked the attacker to reveal the criticism he usually receives.

“It’s cool, do your part on the field and try to forget the rest, all that noise that comes from outside. That’s what I always say: the TV set needs to have a good image. they will comment on you. The Brazilian fans, many times, do not know how difficult it is to play at a high level in a Cup, a tournament that does not give chance for error”, he wrote.

One point Romário insisted on was team play. He listed the difficulties he faced before and during the US Cup, in 1994, and made it clear that winning the fourth championship was only possible through the union and complicity of the players.

“But here’s a point I’d like to make. More than anyone else, it’s impossible to achieve anything alone. I know you know that.”

The former player also said that he would do everything the same if he could go back in time, stating that everything he went through was part of his growth.

“I made my story and I’m sure you will make yours. We don’t owe anyone anything and the Brazilian fans are always with us when they see our commitment, our delivery, our desire for victory. I like games like this. And I’m sure you like it too. So, when I think about it, I remember that you’ll be on the field and my heart is at peace. Because I know that you represent the spirit and football that all of us Brazilians like to see. chest and ask for the ball at the time the team needs it the most. That no one deserves to bring this six home more than you. Now it’s your turn, partner! I trust you. Or rather, Brazil trusts you”, he concluded.
