The summer weather conditions did not stand in the way of the premiere of the “30th Athens International Sailing Week” organized by EIO with the close cooperation of 6 naval groups.
More than 500 boats representing 11 countries are participating in this big international race (in Greece, Russia, Malta, Belgium, Italy, Romania, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Lithuania and Croatia was added).
Although the wind was not an ally of the sailors, the organizers managed to race in three international categories. At 420, the TECHNO 293 and the Lightning.
At 420 there are 24 boats running and one race took place. The first place was taken by P. Sotiriou – D. Giannouli, followed by S. Lolis – A. Tzouvaras and E. Giannoulis – E. Giannouli.
59 boats are competing in TECHNO 293 and TECHNO 293 Plus and D. Antonakas won the first race. Second was F. Zannaras and third was M. Cherubheim.
The 5 Lightning ran 3 races. G. Argyropoulos- Ch. Papamichail – KS Valsamidis are leading with 4 points, second are S. Stoumpos – A. Tolis – E. Dedes with 5 points and in the third place are D. Theofilopoulos – N. Athanassiou – T. Papaioannou with 9 points.
These three categories are made in the first phase of the race that ends on Sunday.
The second phase concerns the holding of the Olympic categories, which are at the same time pan-Hellenic championships.
