In the spirit of the World Cup, barbershop makes the Brazilian flag on the heads of customers

A barber from Mateus Leme, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, has been successful painting the Brazilian flag on his clients’ hair.

Carlos Santos has owned a barbershop for seven years and works together with his son. They have been studying and applying methods of creating colorful art on their customers’ heads and saw the World Cup as an opportunity.

“When that World Cup heat started to emerge, we started to think of something that the customer could wear to celebrate and carry that feeling with him, in addition to the shirt. We took some ideas and found a customer who wanted to do it and bought our idea,” he said.

He says that the first customer to adopt the style came to him wanting to do something different, focused on the World Cup. The barber spoke of the idea he was planning, and the young man agreed at the time.

Carlos published the result on his Instagram account, and a second interested party sought him out to make the same cut. The wave repeated itself, and others appeared.

According to the barber, many enjoyed the work, but didn’t have the courage to go further. Some, he explained, fear acceptance issues at work or at home.

To make a cut in this style, the barber takes about three hours. The process involves cutting, bleaching and pigmentation in green, yellow, blue and white.

When he did the painting for the first time, Carlos created molds with the shapes of the flag to paint each of the colors. Later, more used to the task, he dismissed the matrix and started to perform the work more freely.

The barber says that the pigment dye used is organic and does not harm the hair or scalp. The painting lasts for about 15 days. Afterwards, it loses its effect due to the growth of the hair itself.

Young Igor Henrique, 20, was the second customer to paint the Brazilian flag at Carlos’ barber shop. He had never done something so different, but he saw the work done by the barber and decided to adopt the cut.

“The Cup is going on, but it seems that people are a little discouraged to cheer. In the past, we saw the streets all painted green and yellow, this time there isn’t. So I thought about it and decided to innovate, do something different to cheer. to Brazil,” said the young man.

According to Igor, the comments have been positive. Even though the atmosphere at the World Cup is not what he would like, he has heard shouts of “Brazil” from strangers who are looking at the flag over his head.

An energy that only increases your optimism. “This team now makes me confident. I am very anxious for Brazil to be champion soon and lift the cup.”
