The dispute gave the victory by 1 to 0 for the United States. As in 2010 and 2014, the USA advanced to the knockout stage and kept alive the dream of at least repeating its best campaign in World Cups. Iran tried to secure a draw, but saw the US defense prevail.
Wales vs England
With goals from Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden, England beat Wales 3-0. Wales needed not only to win, but to hope that the match between the United States ended in a draw, so it was eliminated with the results of the day.
