After going through the first phase blank, Harry Kane finally scored his first goal for the England team in the Cup this Sunday (4), against Senegal, for the round of 16. “The connection was perfect,” he celebrated after the game, praising midfielder Phil Foden’s pass.

Without Sterling, who was not with the team to resolve “family issues”, according to the FA, Gareth Southgate has chosen youngsters Foden, Saka and Bellingham, responsible for creating a good part of the plays. “They [os jovens] have a big share in the goals. We have a good mix in the team between youth and experience”, praised the number 9.

Despite the quiet result, 3-0, Kane exalted rivals. “It was very difficult, games in the round of 16 are never easy. We tried hard and played against a very prepared opponent. But we are feeling very good, and advancing to the quarterfinals. It’s a great day.”

With the victory, the English now face France, who earlier beat Poland by 3 to 1. “We will have a very difficult game ahead and we will have to recover and prepare well”, completed the Tottenham striker.

Harry Kane was the top scorer of the 2018 World Cup in Russia with 6 goals. In Qatar, he scored his first goal against 5 of Mbappé, the main scorer of the World Cup.
