Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have decided his next club still in this World Cup. According to newspaper Marca, from Spain, the Portuguese star will play for Al-Nassr, from Saudi Arabia. It will be a two and a half year contract and the bond will start in January.
The newspaper adds that there will be a lot of money involved in the negotiation, with the possibility of the player’s revenue reaching 200 million euros (R$ 1.09 billion) per year, between salary and advertising agreements. The bond would be finalized in 2025, when CR7 would already be 40 years old.
Cristiano started the World Cup in litigation with Manchester United after explosive statements on British TV. The deal was terminated before Portugal’s first game and it was said that he expected to have full focus on the competition, even to try to sign with a club at Champions League level.
The speculations, however, gained strength in the last week and seem to have materialized. The coach of the national team, Fernando Santos, was questioned about this in a press conference this Monday morning (5).
“I don’t know, I didn’t talk to him about it. I spoke to the players, but it has nothing to do with this issue. I didn’t even know, I found out just now. It’s his decision, his question, he’s completely focused on the World Cup, in helping the team”, summarized the technician.
Age is also a factor that weighs against the player. Despite continuing to accumulate important marks, such as becoming the first player in Qatar to score in five different editions of World Cups, he will turn 38 on February 5th.
Therefore, the most recent clubs that had their name somehow speculated as a possible destination for the star are from alternative markets or with some connection with them.
His name was also speculated in Newcastle, which also has money coming from the Saudis, as it was bought, in September 2021, by the sovereign fund controlled by the royal family of Saudi Arabia for R$ 2.2 billion at the time.
