In yet another day with penalty shootouts at the World Cup, Morocco achieved the unprecedented feat of advancing to the quarterfinals. On Monday (6), Portugal also qualified for the next phase after thrashing Switzerland 6-1.

On the bench for most of the dispute, when he entered the field, Cristiano Ronaldo was applauded by the crowd. In the 38th minute, he even scored, but had his goal disallowed for offside.
