The situation in the NBA regarding cases of coronavirus.
In the last week there has been an “explosion” of cases in the top league of the world as well at least 70 players have entered into a health protocol and safety regime. The NBA and the National Basketball Association (NBPA) have already decided on postponement of five matches, due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the groups involved.
The data that emerge are in fact worrying, and show how the spread of the virus between groups is huge. It is indicative that 20 teams in the league have at least one positive covid sample in their ranks, with the Nets, Bulls, Knicks, Lakers, Celtics and Magic having the most confirmed cases.
On the other hand, only ten groups are “clean” and have not been diagnosed with coronavirus. The reason for the Pistons, Rockets, Pacers, Pelicans, Thunder, but also the Blazers, Spurs, Suns, Jazz and Wizards.
In this context, the NBA decided to tighten the protocol to prevent further spread of the virus, while also enabling groups to sign players as replacements when they have positive cases.
