Striker Vinícius Júnior, from Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, was once again the victim of racist insults in Spain. “La Liga [organizadora do Campeonato Espanhol] continues without doing anything”, criticized the player.
Publications on social networks show the Brazilian being called “monkey” by Real Valladolid fans, in the team’s 2-0 defeat by the Meringues, on Friday (30), for the Spanish Championship.
When he was substituted in the 42nd minute of the second half, Vini was the target of objects and curses coming from the stands of the José Zorrilla stadium. In the images, it is possible to see that the player kicks one of the objects thrown at him, while some fans make sounds imitating monkeys.
The attacker used social media to express himself on the subject this Saturday (30).
“The racists continue to go to the stadiums and watch the biggest club in the world up close, and La Liga continues to do nothing. I will continue with my head held high and celebrating my victories and Madrid’s. In the end, it’s my fault”, vented the striker .
Moments later, the president of the league, Javier Tebas, said that Vinícius’ criticism was unfortunate and unfair, and ordered the Brazilian to “be better informed”. Along with the message, he published an official note in which the entity lists some actions taken against racist acts in recent years.
According to the text, one of the Valladolid fans has been identified, and the events that took place at the José Zorrilla stadium will be reported to the Antiviolence Commission and the Hate Crimes Office.
Real Madrid and Real Valladolid had not officially commented on the subject until the publication of this text, which will be updated.
Valladolid belongs to former Brazilian striker Ronaldo. O Fenômeno has used an art with the phrase “No to racism” as a profile image on its social networks for some time.
This is not the first time that Vinícius Júnior has suffered racist attacks in Spain. The most emblematic case happened in September, before a derby against Atlético de Madrid.
“If you want to dance samba, go do it in Brazil. Here [na Espanha] You have to respect your colleagues in the profession and stop acting like a monkey”, said commentator Pedro Bravo during the television program “Chiringuito Show”.
The case generated enormous repercussions, and Vinicius received support from important figures such as Pelé, who died on Thursday (29), and Neymar. The hashtag #BailaVini (“Dance, Vini” in Spanish) was one of the most shared on Twitter. In the next game, the striker danced with fellow Brazilian Rodrygo after one of the goals in the 2-1 victory over Atlético.
At the time, Vinícius Júnior published a video on his social networks promising not to stop celebrating his goals with dance steps.
“They say that happiness is uncomfortable. The happiness of a black Brazilian victorious in Europe is much more uncomfortable,” he said.
