Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, said his work in European football is complete and he has received offers from several clubs, including Brazil. The Portuguese striker was introduced this Tuesday (3) as a player for Al Nassr, from Saudi Arabia.

He did not mention which Brazilian teams tried to sign him.

“It is a great opportunity, not only in football, to change the mindset of the new generations. I can say that I had many opportunities in Europe, in several clubs, in Brazil, in Australia, in the United States, even in Portugal, many clubs tried, but I chose this club to develop not only football, but other parts of society. I know what I want and what I don’t want”, said the player who was free since he terminated his contract with Manchester United (ING), in November of the year past.

At the World Cup, he was a substitute in the last two matches for the Portuguese national team: in the round of 16, against Switzerland; and in the quarterfinals, against Morocco.

Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Saudi team. According to the European press, the value of the contract is around 200 million euros (R$ 1.1 billion).

After being introduced, the player met his new teammates in the locker room. He then went onto the lawn at Mrsool Park, where he was greeted by thousands of supporters.

Ronaldo did not comment on rumors that he could move to Newcastle (ING) in August this year, if the team manages to qualify for the next Champions League. Newcastle and All Nassr have the same owner, a subsidiary company linked to the sovereign fund of Saudi Arabia.

“I’m very proud of having taken this great decision in life. I’ve won everything. I’ve played for the most important clubs in Europe and now it’s a new challenge in Asia”, he added.

The statements were in response to criticism that he chose Al Nassr only because he did not receive any offers from a great European team, where he could continue to compete in the Champions League.

“I’m a unique player and for me that [as críticas] are normal”, said the Portuguese.
