He laid down his soul but was bent by the “King”. THE Stefanos Tsitsipas produced an outstanding performance in the final of the Australian Open against Novak Djokovicbut the… undefeated Serbian defended his class and won undefeated with a 3-0 set 22nd Grand Slam title of his career “tying” Rafa Nadal.

Stefanos was highly competitive in the second and third sets, who did not take advantage of the opportunity given to him and found himself behind 2-0 in the tie break.

Nole doesn’t lose in Australia as he counts 41 consecutive wins now in the country.

The match

In the first set Djokovic touched… perfection. With deep serves that forced Tsitsipas to make mistakes, he managed to take an easy lead, even making the break in the 4th game, making it 1-0 after 36′ minutes.

Tsitsipas in second set, he completely changed his tactics and preferred to go for a more aggressive style of play, pressing Djokovic on the first serve as a result of which the two went hand in hand. However, the top Greek tennis player’s aces (4 in the second set) and Nole’s 46% on returns brought the match to 5-4 in favor of Stefanos. The 35-year-old Djokovic, however, fought back and led the set to the tie break where it prevailed 7-6 making it 2-0 effectively collapsing the psychology of Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The third set it was the one that brought the first one break of the final for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who until that point had not been able to find solutions to Novak Djokovic’s serve. The Serb equalized with a break point, but Tsitsipas tried to react, investing in drop shots which gave him four points in the third set. THE Nole he conserved his strength thus dropping his percentages in the first serve, as a result of which Stefanos remained in the game until the end and chased his opponent, taking risks with marginal hits.

This, however, turned into Tsitsipas’ “Achilles heel”, after he proceeded to 14 effortless mistakes in the third set resulting in Djokovic taking to tie break the victory which brought him 10th Australian Open titlen and 22nd Grand Slam of his career.
