The relevant announcement in detail:
“The Super League 2 Board of Directors met today 9.2.23. unanimously taking the following decisions:
• Continuation of the earlier decision on the forced suspension of the Betsson Super League 2 Championship indefinitely.
• Counters the slanders, against our groups and the category as a whole, stating that all PAEs in the last three years have supported their obligations with their own resources, despite the State’s promises and commitments to the contrary, in the context of the restructuring of of Super League 2 football product.
• We expressly and unequivocally state that in the event that it is proven that there are Football Societies – our members, which take part in the manipulation of matches, we will primarily initiate the procedures for their expulsion from the Championship. The board encourages all teams to show zero tolerance for such phenomena.
• We announce the establishment of a committee consisting of the President Mr. Leutsakos and the Presidents of the following groups: PAE AEL Mr. Daveli, PAE Apollon Smyrni Mr. Monemvasiotis, PAE Athens Kallithea Mr. Tsiolekas, PAE Niki Volou Mr. Papakonstantinou, PAE Kifissia mr. Pritsa, who will officially request meetings with all the co-competent agencies that can help resolve the very serious issues that have arisen.
We express our concern that if a fair solution is not found, the continuation of the championship becomes impossible, which will be a black mark in the history of Greek professional football in our country.
We are always receptive to continuous and constructive dialogue and hope, even at this last moment, that all relevant bodies will be aware of the sustainability issues of Super League 2 and contribute as much as possible to finding solutions so that we can achieve the mutually beneficial both for the State as well as for us”.
