It may be that what is going to happen on the floor is in the spotlight, but at the same time there will be a series of events that concern many of our fellow human beings and shows that basketball can really be a great celebration for everyone!

Visit to the 1st Special Primary School of Heraklion

The visit will take place on 17/2 at 10.00 by the staff of UNICEF Greece and the staff of the EEC in the presence of the Secretary General of the Hellenic Basketball Federation, Nikos Nikolopoulos, while a special presence will be that of Sophocles Schortsanitis.

Event on human rights and children’s rights at the Hellenic Mediterranean University

A special event will be hosted in the “wooden amphitheater” of social medicine of the Hellenic Mediterranean University on February 17 at 4:30 p.m. The theme of the conference will be “The protection of children’s rights in the modern era: “Challenges, institutional framework, partnerships of social partners” in collaboration with the LaHeRS Laboratory, of the Department of Social Work of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and the support of UNICEF GREECE.

Voluntary blood donation

On Saturday 18/02 from 09.30 to 14.00 at the Loggia point in the center of Heraklion, a voluntary blood donation will take place in cooperation with the Pancretan Association of Voluntary Blood Donors “AimatoKretis”, under the auspices of the National Blood Donation Center.

Actions to raise public awareness of motor and sensory disabilities by volunteers of the 1st Special Primary School and EL.ME.PA.

On February 19 at 4:00 p.m. in the outdoor area of ​​the New CG Heraklion in Dyo Aorakia, the Hellenic Basketball Federation in collaboration with the 1st Special Primary School of Heraklion, the Department of Social Work and the Health and Road Safety Laboratory of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and a group of experienced volunteers , will frame various awareness-raising actions for people with motor and sensory disabilities in the forecourt of the central entrance, outside doors 2 and 3.

There will be stands and constructions where, with their help and guidance, people will be able to simulate various disabilities, such as: walking with eyes closed and a guide cane, a wheelchair route, mouth painting, books and materials in language Braile et al.,

a special blackout booth will be set up inside which there will be a projector that will show videos with daily stories of difficulties of people with disabilities as well as achievements of athletes with disabilities,

there will be face painting for children and fans, spreading the message #EinaiGiortiGiaOlous

people with various disabilities will be present to interact with the world.

Also, three tactile representations of a basketball court were built, with which three blind people will be able to watch the match with the help of their companions and specialist Braille interpreters.
