Atsu had decided to leave before the earthquake – He changed his mind after his goal!

by

One shock follows another… The Turkish media conveys an information that was not known until now and comes to add another element which raises even more the tragedy of the news of Atsu’s death from the earthquake.

As they convey, Atsu had decided to leave Hatayspor immediately after the game with Kasimbasa on the 5th of the month, before the murderous earthquake that happened in the early hours. However, this did not happen because after the goal he scored in the match he changed his mind and decided not to take the flight.

This shocking detail was made known by an executive of the Turkish team. Characteristically, he mentions Fatih Ilek: “Cristian Atsu had spoken to our coach before the match against Gaziantep (on 01 February) before the earthquake that he wants to have more playing time. “Can I leave if I find a team?” Volkan granted his request. In this game he did not play and then he booked a ticket to leave after the match against Casimbasa. He would travel abroad to be with his family,” says Hatayspor’s sports director and continues:

“In the game against Kasimbasa, the coach gave him the opportunity and Atsu played very well. He also scored the team’s game-winning goal. After the game, the atmosphere, the unity in the locker room and the joy he had after the good words of the coach, that I will never forget. This was the crucial point. He had a plane ticket, but he changed his mind and didn’t leave because he had played well and scored the goal. After the excitement he had said: “I’m not going anywhere. Leave me here”…

The earthquake caught him on a day when he was terribly happy. His flight was at 23:00 in the evening from Istanbul to France. But he didn’t take her… It’s a tragedy.”
