The high school community in the Municipality of Almyros was once again upset, after two incidents of school bullying that took place within just 48 hours.
In the first incident, which took place last Tuesday, a 14-year-old student of the first grade of a high school in the Almyros region was left naked from the waist up, and the mother of the first and the management of the high school complained. the incident to the Police, who are investigating it. The case is expected to be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office, with the juvenile prosecutor handling it, while the parents of the student who allegedly committed the above act, himself, and the guardians along with the victim of the attack are expected to be summoned.
According to reliable information, during the break time in a secluded part of the school yard, there was a group of children, who were joking with each other. Suddenly the 3rd grade student grabbed and pulled down the pants and underwear of a 1st grade child, while the teachers were in another part of the courtyard.
The child addressed the teachers, while the school director was immediately informed, who called the parents of the 3rd grade student and himself for explanations. According to information, he maintained that everything happened for “fun” and that there was no ill intent against the first-grader. However, he did not escape punishment from the principal and teachers, as he was given a two-day suspension.
The victim’s mother went to the Almyros Police Station, filing a complaint, with the matter being investigated by the authorities. Sources state that one of the three students who were accused a few months ago of bullying a 12.5-year-old classmate also took part in the incident, with the matter then taking on pan-Hellenic proportions. Already the 3rd grade student was punished with a two-day suspension, while he is characterized by the school community as quite “lively” taking part in various incidents inside the Gymnasium.
His glasses were broken
Not a few hours passed, however, and a second incident of bullying took place at the school the day before yesterday, in which one of the group of children who had been reported last December took the lead. In particular, he allegedly grabbed the glasses worn by the 12.5-year-old boy who had been a victim in the recent past and stepped on them until they broke. There was further uproar at the Middle School because of this, with the boy’s parents buying him another pair and the matter being referred to the principal and the Teachers’ Association.
Appeal to the competent services
No incidents of school bullying will go unanswered, emphasizes in his statement to “Th”, the director of Secondary Education of Magnesia Dr. Socrates Savelidis. As he states: “New events in the school community disturb the calm atmosphere, having a continuation of other incidents that we considered as ending.
Incidents of violence, school bullying and harsh behavior towards students will be dealt with by the school community in pedagogical ways, but we will not rule out recourse to the competent State services when these problems concern inappropriate behavior at the expense of the health and safety of students us. Both we and the school are investigating the events, with the director and the teachers’ association taking the appropriate actions, and soon there will be a reaction from the Directorate of Secondary Education as well.”
