Manchester United: Raises prices in season

by

THE Manchester United will increase season tickets by 5%, as the cost of holding matches is very high. More specifically as reported by the people at the club, the sums spent on a match increased by 40% in the last 5 years and 11% last season.

This can hardly come as a surprise in the fan ranks as inflation in the UK is currently running high, coupled with rising energy costs since Russia’s war in Ukraine began last year. In addition, United recently pledged to give all their matchday staff a pay rise.

However, increased ticket prices will not be easily accepted, especially for clubs that make such large profits, from TV revenue, sponsorships and other activities. According to financial services firm Deloitte’s latest Money League report, United earned a total of £583m last season, almost £90m more than the pandemic-hit 2020/21 season.

But this increase was not enough to return the club to profitability as United recorded losses of £115.5 million that season.
