Dimitris Katsivelis will be the captain of the National Team in the last two matches for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. The 31-year-old international spoke about the effort that has been made so far in the “blue and white” and the following games with Serbia and Latvia.

For the role of leader: “A great honor, what can we say now… I didn’t even imagine it when we started this qualification process and I was also present. In any case, my presence in the team, the calls I received to help in the difficult marches and the big goals we had, was an honor. And that’s how we managed to secure the third qualification through the “windows”, two World Cups, one Pan-European, the Men’s National Team is always present at the big dates”.
Do you think that the match against Serbia in Ano Liosia (24/2) will also be the “bravo” of the fans to the team for achieving the goal?
“The world has never been by our side throughout this whole process, the fans love the National Team and they always show it. Wherever we’ve played they’ve been close to us and they’ve helped us a lot, it’s part of the effort and I’m sure they’ll be close in this, let’s call it a farewell, game to close the path that brought us the qualification to the World Cup together.”
It is demonstrably paradoxical in the “windows” process to refer to absentees from the time when those present achieve the goal.
“Okay, there is logic, but I think with the course of this institution, from the very first time, the world became aware that whoever wears the national team jersey deserves it and feels it as a supreme sporting honor and does everything to justify the call.
